Currently The Roofie Foundation is seeking charity status and looking to become a Social Enterprise Partnership. Whist this is happening it remains a self-funding organisation.
Although the Foundation enjoys a high profile both in the media and within its own particular field of expertise, it receives no funding and attracts very little money from outside sources. Currently the only money it receives is generated through selling its own awareness products, public speeches and supervising on-going training sessions for a wide variety of different organisations, and also acting as experet witnesses in both civil and criminal cases. Although we have managed to survive like this for eleven years we know that to be more effective, The Roofie Foundation needs to generate more money.
This money would go to fund the following projects:
- To create its own on-going public awareness campaigns and publicity.
- To help fund a research programme examining DFSA offender profile.
- To help fund a research programme into a better understanding of the effects of the drugs on memory loss, and to seek a magic bullet effect to counter or cure this side effect of the drugs.
- To help fund a campaign to persuade the large pub and club chains to provide a better understanding of drug-rape and drink spiking to create their own awareness campaigns in their own premises as well as training their staff to provide in-situ help for victims.
- To help fund research & create better, more effective and personalised counselling techniques to help the victims turn to become a survivor.
