Anon survey re police investigation of rape cases 2 Years, 8 Months ago Karma: 0
Hi,
My name is Emma and I am a producer at Five News. For some time I have been working on a series of reports aimed at taking an indepth look at the issue of date rape drugs and drink spiking.
A while ago I wrote on this forum - and several of you were kind enough to contact me directly. Thank you again for that.
I am now trying to conduct a survey which looks at the way the police investigate rape cases. It is a short 3 question survey, and require only one word answers. It is completely anonymous - and I would be extremely grateful for any responses. You can either reply on the forum or else email me at emma.slifkin@bskyb.com
The questions are...
1) Do you feel your case was properly investigated by the police
2) Did the police keep you informed on the investigation
3) Do you feel the police treated you with more or less respect than your alleged attacker (in cases where he was identified)

As I said your replies will be completely anonymous and I promise not to contact you directly (unless you request me to)

Thanks you for reading this

Hi Emma

Thank you for asking the right questions, this kind of survey, with media pressure can go a long way to help raise the issues that are long overdue for scrutiny!

Some people may not be able to share their experiences right now for legal/personal reasons how long will you be running the survey?

Also, you said you only require a one word answer, I can understand it will be easier to quantify with one word answers, but I personally couldn’t answer a definitive yes/no for two of the three questions.

1) The Police made mistakes but they also did a decent investigation, although it sometimes felt like things took far too long.

2) I felt like I was kept in the dark about some things far longer than necessary but generally I felt well informed.

3) The Police never once made me feel like it was my fault; the female officer that was assigned to me was mine and my family’s strength for a good few months, it would have been a lot harder to have got through it without her.

I hope my answers do not deter you from your survey as these are important questions to ask and I can only answer for myself, I would be very interested in seeing the results.

Kind regards

Linda

Hi Linda,
Thank you for your reply. I absolutely appreciate that one-word answers can be very simplistic when talking about issues like this. We have conducted some extremely powerful interviews with some amazing women who contacted me following my past posting on the website. However, I was keen to try and reflect as many people's experiences as possible. As our series is due to start next week, I was hoping that keeping the survey simple would encourage more people to answer the survey
At the moment this report is due to air on Wednesday 27th, which gives me a week to collect as many responses as possible.
Again, thank you taking the time to post a reply.

empty"/nnHey guys.. a few words about myself,.. I'm usually one of those ignorant folks that would browse through the forums, seek out
Necessary information and leave Due to some recent events in my life I came to a conclusion and had decided to change
this ugly aspect about myself and begin contributing as well, or may be at least saying thank you once in a while to those that continually contribute here.
