I have had several friends that have fallen victim the ‘Date Rape’ drink experience. In each case it seemed that the only way in which the drug was administered was through their drink. With this in mind I have set out to try and find a way in which to prevent this extremely upsetting and frankly cowardly crime from being available to the perpetrator.

However after reading your links, particularly the forensics section by Jim Campbell I was wondering (naively or not), as to whether you could enlighten me or indeed point me in the right direction on a few matters.

These being;

1/ After searching on the patent web site there already seems to be a number of products that seem to use a chemical or strip that detects the presence of a drug such as Rohypnol etc, is this possible?

2/ If it is possible, how can such a device keep up with the constant changing world of these drugs….. That being is there a constant element within these drugs that the indicator can look for in order to indicate the presence of a spiked drink!

3/ Again if such an indicator is possible, does its presence form an health and safety issue….. Is it safe or poisonous to the individual?
